Insulation

Pipeline insulation: mineral wool, cladding and the complete system

Thermal insulation

Thermal insulation keeps heat where it belongs: inside the pipeline, tank or process equipment. Poorly fitted mineral wool, damaged cladding or a thermal bridge at a valve allows heat to escape into the building and reduces the temperature of the process fluid.

We install mineral wool insulation on pipelines, tanks and chemical process equipment. We also insulate heating equipment and protect water supply and drainage systems against low temperatures.

What to check at handover

The insulation layer should be continuous, including at bends, supports and fittings. The cladding should keep water out, while valves must remain accessible for servicing. The insulation thickness should match the design specification, rather than the materials left on site.

Insulation is often outside the scope of a steelwork contractor. At Stalomar, welding, installation and insulation can be included in a single contract.
